Unpacking

What’s in the box? The BassPal of course, with its manual and a USB cord.

Once connected to the mains, it emits a red light, which turns off when charge is complete. The complete recharge takes only 3 hours, and its autonomy is 6 hours announced by the manufacturer. It is done through the USB cable provided.

Completely Waterproof and Shockproof

The BassPal is IPX7 certified, that is to say that it is completely waterproof. You can even immerse it in water to a depth of 1 meter for half an hour, without damaging the device. So you can even take it in your bath where it will float quietly while you make your toilet. Its strong suction cup will allow you to hold it firmly hung anywhere in your bathroom.

Its coating is made of ABS and silicone: it does not fear shocks or scratches, or even dust (it is also IP67 certified).

Powerful Sound

Its high-talk 5W delivers a powerful sound, with good bass, which will sound without problems your bathroom or your entire apartment. We played the song 24K Magic by Bruno Mars. The bass was very present, even at high volume.

And if you’re tired of always listening to the same songs, its built-in FM radio will keep you up-to-date on the news.

Easy to Use

5 buttons provide access to the various functions: on / off, next / previous track (the same buttons are used to adjust the volume: press briefly to change tracks, longer to change volume), Bluetooth or radio mode, play / pause / stop. The play button is also used to answer calls (short press), reject calls (long press) and to redial the last number (double click).

Its Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity will allow it to connect without any problem to all smartphones and tablets on the market, and this up to a distance of 33 feet. To connect it, simply activate the Bluetooth using the dedicated button. The speaker is then recognized by the smartphone or tablet. My smartphone detected it almost instantly, and then it was ready to go.

Pretty Colors

By pressing the power button you can choose the color emitted by the speaker: blue, white, green or red. You can also make the colors rotate or turn them off.

  1. I have always thought it would be fun to have a speaker in my shower. So I was very interesting about your review and like this one a lot. Not a least because the led lights which should have the possibility to work well with the speaker.
You talk about it can be in the depth of 1 meter for a long time. But is it possible to let it float on the water?

  2. I was not even aware that these speakers existed! I have to wonder, if prolonged exposure at the same pressure in danger of damage? With the IPX7, it claims a half-hour of 1 meter depth submersion. Does that mean it can only handle, say 25 minutes, if it is at a 1.5 meter depth? Any technical information you have regarding this would be beneficial as I am just curious as to the way the spec is described.

    1. Personally I wouldn’t take the risk of submersing the speaker for more than 1 meter. If you have special needs, my advice would be to look for an IPX8 rated speaker like the EcoXgear from EcoXbt.
